New Zealand international Simon Elliott will today sign a short-term deal with A-League club Wellington Phoenix.

The 36-year old midfielder has been a free agent since he was waived by MLS outfit San Jose Earthquakes at the beginning of the 2010 season but will now saddle up with his hometown club.

Elliott, who was had stints with English Premier League club Fulham and other MLS clubs including LA Galaxy and Columbus Crew, will officially ecome a Phoenix player once his international transfer certificate is cleared.
