Elliott Management are ready to stay in control of AC Milan long-term.
Sky Italia says Elliott plan to set up a three-year project to get the club back on track, raise its value and then sell at a large profit.
Current directors Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli would continue to work with the club, but slowly be edged out by new chiefs, most likely Leonardo.
While Elliott have no immediate plans to sell, two per cent of the club has been secured by Riccardo Silva, co-owner of Miami FC and with strong links to the development of the sport in America.
He also has very close ties to Rossoneri legend Paolo Maldini.
