Former Newcastle United defender Robbie Elliott has joined manager Kevin Keegan's backroom staff.
With KK's coaching team decimated somewhat by the departure of Steve Round to Everton, the return to the club of Elliott will provide something of a boost to his playing staff, with the player a popular figure at the club during both of his stints as a player.
The 34-year-old Geordie told the Evening Chronicle: "I'm coming in under Mark Hulse who is the head man and I am coming in to help him with the first team and reserves.
"You always know when the time is right and I knew that quite quickly into the season.
"But it was definitely the right time and I made the right decision."
