Elano is expected to be shown the door by Manchester City boss Mark Hughes at the end of the season.
The Daily Mail says City are unlikely to offer Elano a new deal this summer if Hughes stays in charge, despite the Brazil midfielder claiming he would like to extend his stay at Eastlands.
"If it were up to me I would be sat around a table discussing a contract extension right now," said Elano, who has rediscovered his best form recently.
However, City will still seek a buyer this summer for a player who has had an uneasy relationship with Hughes and is seen as a negative influence over compatriot Robinho.
