New Zealand goalkeeper Glen Moss admits he's happy that Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has frozen out his overseas-based players for their World Cup playoff.
Wellington Phoenix keeper Moss knows all about facing the likes of Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez and Villarreal dazzler Giovani dos Santos - and the memories aren't the best.
"We have played against Chicharito and Dos Santos in a past friendly and they hurt us badly, so no I'm not disappointed they won't be playing," Moss told tribalfootball.com.
"I'm sure their replacements will be just as good, though."
While Herrera's decision has shocked some El Tri and All Whites fans, Moss insists New Zealand's preparation hasn't been affected.
Indeed, the All Whites have already been studying up on Herrera's local selection after their recent friendly against Finland.
"Mexico's decision not to select overseas players hasn't changed our mindset at all," Moss says. "Watching their recent game against Finland, they showed the current squad is still full of quality.
"We know we will have to play our best football to beat them."
Moss warns Herrera if he's underestimating New Zealand with his squad selection, he'll be in for rude awakening.
"I'm not sure if Mexico are taking us lightly by not selecting their overseas players. What I can say is that whoever walks out in the Mexican shirt will know they are in for tough game.
"We are just as passionate and determined, if not more so, to qualify for Brazil..."
