El Shaarawy admits Roma move made with Azzurri in mind

AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy admits he's joined Roma to land a place in Italy's squad.

El Shaarawy has joined on loan from Milan at a cost of €1.4m with option to buy at the end of the season for another €13m.

He said, “It was definitely the aim of making the squad for Euro 2016. You get noticed more in Italy. Plus the faith Sabatini has shown in me was important. I'm here and very keen to play my part.

“To be called up for the national team you need to be playing regularly at club level and to do that you need to work hard, be committed and show desire. My aim is to play well for Roma to achieve that.

“It's a tricky time but the team is giving their all. I've just joined and I will try to give everything for this club and help my team-mates out. We can only achieve great things if we stay together."
