El Ahmadi rates Villa team-mate Delph for England call-up

Karim El Ahmadi feels his fellow Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph is deserving of an England call-up. The Moroccan told the Birmingham Mail: "You have a lot of good players in the squad but if I see all the players I've played against in England, he can be one of them.

"He is always the first at the club and always the last to leave, so his hunger can achieve that. If he keeps his quality, it's only a matter of time.

"I'm not the manager and I don't know how it works with the English squad, but he has the quality.

"Here in England he is a big player and a big talent. He is still young and was unlucky with injuries before and if he didn't have them then maybe he'd already be with the England squad. He has a great future in front of him.

"He's one of the best players in the team."

El Ahmadi added: "As a player I always look at the players who play a little bit like me.

"He is very technical and what he has - what a lot of technical players don't have - is that hunger and power to get the ball.

"If you see him on the pitch and how he makes tackles to get the ball back, it makes you extra motivated. It makes it much easier for me and he is the total package.

"When I came to Villa Park, my first impression was I thought he was the best player."
