Gini Wijnaldum expressed his delight at playing alongside a number of Liverpool youngsters.
The Dutchman was deployed in a midfield diamond where he operated with the likes of Ovie Ejaria, Marko Grujic and Kevin Stewart as the Reds defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the fourth round of the EFL Cup at Anfield on Tuesday night.
"You see a lot of young players when they come into the first team and play a big game, they are nervous and you don't see their quality immediately," he told Liverpoolfc.com.
"I don't know if they were nervous but it didn't seem like it. They just played their game and played how they train.
"I was really impressed. It's not easy for a young player to play in a big game for a big club. A lot of players get nervous and lose confidence, but I didn't see it in these players."
