Sunderland are getting better under Gus Poyet according to Lee Cattermole.
The Black Cats drew 0-0 with West Bromwich Albion on the weekend - their eighth scoreless result of the season - but midfielder Cattermole is confident that things at the Stadium of Light are on the improve despite their current position of 16th.
"We're heading in the right direction," said Cattermole who was back in the starting line-up for the first time since injuring his groin in late December.
"The whole club feels more stable. We just need results.
"All the players, even the senior players, will say they've improved under Gus," he added.
"But it doesn't happen overnight. You have to be patient. I think the manager's doing a very good job.
"We've had a lot of draws but we're definitely more solid. All the lads are behind the manager."
Sunderland, who have not win in their past three league outings, next take on fourth-placed Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
