EFL CUP WRAP: Man Utd dump Man City, Chelsea chopped by West Ham, Southampton stunner sends Sunderland packing

The fourth round of the 2016/17 EFL Cup was completed on Wednesday night with three all-Premier League affairs.

There was another greatly anticipated Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City, but this time it was Jose Mourinho who got the better of rival Pep Guardiola.

The Red Devils won 1-0 thanks to a 54th-minute strike from Juan Mata to progress to the quarter-finals of the league cup competition at the expense of their local rivals.

In London, crowd trouble marred West Ham United's impressive 2-1 victory over Chelsea at the London Stadium.

A wonderful header from Cheikhou Kouyate opened the scoring for the Hammers in the 11th minute before a fine effort from Edimilson Fernandes three minutes into the second half opened the Swiss youngsters scoring account for the East London club.

Gary Cahill pulled one back for the Blues in injury-time but it was not enough as Slaven Bilic's side edged past Antonio Conte's and into the final eight.

And on the south coast, summer arrival Sofiane Boufal announced himself to the Southampton fans with a sublime winning goal in his first start for the club as they beat Sunderland 1-0 at St Mary's.

The three winners from tonight have joined Arsenal, Liverpool, Hull City, Newcastle United and Leeds United in the quarter-finals which will be played on the week commencing November 28.
