Eight-time champions Liverpool have advanced to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup for the fourth time in six seasons.
Jurgen Klopp's Reds took another step closer to avenging last season's defeat to Manchester City by seeing off Leeds United 2-0 at Anfield tonight.
It took the Reds a while to break down Garry Monk's Whites on Merseyside but once the goals came, it was curtains for the visitors.
The opener came in the 76th minute when impressive full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold played an inch-perfect ball into the area from the right flank, allowing Divock Origi to get enough of a touch on his half-volley to fire the ball beyond Marco Silvestri.
There was then an historic moment for the famous club when 17-year-old Ben Woodburn, in just his second outing, became Liverpool's youngest ever scorer by hammering into the roof of the net in front of the Kop in the 81st minute from Gini Wijnaldum's clever little pass.
Leeds were unlucky not to find the back of the net when Kemar Roofe struck the woodwork but Liverpool also had their own misfortune through Wijnaldum who fired into the upright not long before Origi's breakthrough goal.
In the end, however, it was a deserved triumph for Liverpool who are on course for a ninth league cup title as they await to see who they will take on the final four following Wednesday night's clashes between Manchester United and West Ham United, and Arsenal and Southampton.
