Edghill wins Macclesfield contract

Macclesfield manager Ian Brightwell has completed the signing of former Manchester City defender Richard Edghill on a one-year contract.

The 32-year-old becomes Brightwell's fifth summer signing following his release by League Two rivals Bradford at the end of last season.

Brightwell told the club's official website: "I am delighted to capture the signature of a player like Richard.

"I played alongside him when he first arrived at Manchester City and it was clear from an early stage that he had what it took to make it in the game.

"He is naturally fit and a great trainer. He has still got a lot to offer and I see him as a key signing and someone I know will make a big impression this season."

Edghill made over 200 appearances for Manchester City between 1992 and 2002.
