Eck hopes for chance to introduce ideas at Birmingham

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish hopes they can find some stability so he can introduce his long-standing ideas.

Birmingham travel to Arsenal today and McLeish is already looking forward to the prospect of one day being a serious challenger and having a little black book to rival Arsene Wenger.

He said: "Karren Brady, our former managing director, said I was the most ambitious manager she has ever known. I have plans to improve this club but, from the moment I have been here, it's been heads down with relegation and then promotion battles to fight.

"I don't know how many scouts Wenger has world-wide. Maybe 20? We've got one, our chief scout. It's an area we must improve.

"It's up to me and the guys who do all the player recruitment. We have worked tirelessly on that with a poor infrastructure and used contacts we have. I don't know what Arsenal's infrastructure is but Wenger must have a fantastic contacts book - it must be worth millions!

"There is a lot I want to do. I believe if we get a foothold in the Premier League we can do it, that this club can fulfil my ambitions. The new owners can give us a stab at the dream."
