Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish will not be competing for free agent James McFadden.
The Daily Mail says McLeish admitted this week that even if he had wanted to re-sign \McFadden, a free agent following his release from Birmingham City, that there was no money to pay his wages.
Wolves are expected to sign the former Birmingham city attacker.
