Earthquakes and 49ers partner to promote football

The San Jose EarthquakesMLS side and the NFL's San Francisco 49ers are teaming up to attract top-level football to the San Francisco Bay area, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. The two teams, both of whom are set to move into brand new stadiums in the near future, will work together for the next five years in order to promote the area as a leading destination for international football matches, tournaments and training camps.

The 49ers are set to move into their state-of-the-art Levi's Stadium this August, while the Earthquakes are slated to move to their own 18,000-seat soccer-specific stadium less than five miles away in 2015.

Last autumn it was announced that the first event to take place at the 68,500-seat Levi's Stadium would be a match between the Earthquakes and the Seattle Sounders on 2nd August, thanks to a three-way partnership between the MLS side, the 49ers and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority.

"We are thrilled to partner with the 49ers," said Earthquakes president Dave Kaval. "The 49ers share our vision and commitment to bringing the best possible teams from around the world to the South Bay. With two first-class stadiums just miles apart, this is the perfect spot to host international soccer games."

49ers president Paraag Marathe added: "The region has a great deal to offer the international soccer community, most notably two beautiful, new facilities that will showcase the sport brilliantly. We look forward to offering sports fans a diverse collection of high calibre events at Levi's Stadium."
