AZ Alkmaar attacker Muamer Tankovic has admitted he chose to play for Sweden after extended talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Tankovic was born in Sweden to Bosnian parents and spoke with both Roma's Bosnia striker Eden Dzeko and released Manchester United star Ibrahimovic about his international future.
On Ibra's approach, he recalled to Lundh: "I was really shocked when he called. Actually, I thought that it was not Zlatan at all. There is someone on Facebook who can do him perfectly, I thought he called me. But it was really Zlatan. We've been talking for hours, hours. I remember it well. Over everything, the future and that sort of thing."
Tankovic also said of Dzeko: "He did not immediately promise paradise, because nobody in the world can promise that. Bosnia then played for the first time at the World Cup. I can not remember all the details of that conversation, but we had a good conversation. We talked in a hotel in Manchester and talked about the future. A few days later, Zlatan called and I spoke the same to him."
