Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne has welcomed speculation linking Tottenham striker Robbie Keane with a move to Villa Park.

Keane's Republic of Ireland international team-mate Dunne would gladly welcome him at Villa Park. Dunne revealed he has "once or twice" spoken informally to Keane about the prospect of joining Villa from Spurs.

"Yeah, it would be great if Robbie came," Dunne told the Birmingham Mail.

"A player we need is someone who can play in the hole and link midfield and the forward line.

"If Robbie came to us it would be great."
