Richard Dunne has warned Aston Villa teammate James Milner about a move to Manchester City.
The Irishman left City after it became apparent that they could no longer guarantee him regular first-team football, and he feels the same situation could greet Milner should he take on a new challenge in the North West.
"Obviously we'll miss James because he's been brilliant, but we have to move on and the manager will build again," Dunne told Sky Sports News. "James will know that because he's joining a big club, a club that wants to win the league, that he'll be part of a squad.
"At Aston Villa he will play every week and at Manchester City he may not, but it's an opportunity he probably thinks to go and win the league."
While City are tipped to make their next move sooner rather than later, Roberto Mancini has refused to reveal when he will step up his efforts to land Milner.
The Blues are currently away on a pre-season tour of America and their Italian coach is playing his cards close to his chest when it comes to potential transfer dealings.
"Milner is a good player but today he is an Aston Villa player," he said. "If we have a chance we could take him, but we must wait for now."
