Manchester City captain Richard Dunne says it's important the board stands by Mark Hughes.
Dunne said: "The owners have said they have a long-term plan that includes Mark Hughes and, after all the turmoil over the last nine years with managers, I think that is important.
"From what I have heard, the owners are men of their word and I think they realise that any manager needs a few years to build a team.
"They are men with big ambitions and they haven't got the wealth they've built up by being happy with losing.
"People have tried to put Mark Hughes under pressure all season and he has taken it.
"But it's the players who should be worrying about the future in the last two months of the season."
