Terry Dunfield has thanked former club Manchester City for helping him win a contract at Macclesfield.
City academy chief Jim Cassell invited Dunfield to train during preseason and the hard work paid off with the midfielder winning a deal at Macclesfield last week.
Dunfield told City's website: "Jim Cassell told me that Macclesfield were looking for players so I went there for training to see how it would go. I ended up playing a few games, and after 10 days the Manager brought me into the office and said ‘I like what I've seen, I'm very impressed and I'd like to sign you.'
"I'm working for Ian Brightwell and Asa Hartford, two ex-Manchester City men, but without the help of Jim Cassell, Alex Gibson, Paul Power, Steve Eyre and especially Robin Sadler at Carrington I wouldn't be where I am now.
"Macclesfield's Chief Executive said to me, ‘Congratulations, you're a professional footballer again' a couple of days ago, and I'm the happiest man in the world right now."
