Dunfermline Athletic chief Yorkston against ban for Rangers' Aluko

Dunfermline Athletic chairman John Yorkston does not believe Rangers winger Sone Aluko should be heavily punished by the Scottish Football Association.

The Nigerian dived to win a penalty for the reigning champions who were able to beat the Pars 2-1 at Ibrox on Saturday but Yorkston feels a suspension would not assist his club in any way as the damage has already been done.

"If Aluko does get banned it does not help us in any way," he said.

"What it would do is help the other teams in the bottom half of the league.

"This was an occasion when the ref got it wrong.

"If the ref had seen it the other way Aluko would have been booked and would not get a ban. He should have been yellow carded and that would have been it.

"Having watched it on TV, it was never a penalty.

"Whatever the SFA come up with, it's not going to benefit us - we have lost the points full stop. We can't chalk off the penalty and make it 1-1."
