Dundee Utd tie ex-Portsmouth forward Ciftci down to new deal

Nadir Ciftci has been rewarded with a one-year contract extension for a brilliant start to his Dundee United career.

The 21-year old former Portsmouth and Kayserispor winger has netted seven goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for the Terrors since his summer move from NAC Breda and will now remain at Tannadice until 2016 after initially signing a two-year deal in July.

"From the first day at training I knew I would enjoy being at Dundee United and over the first few months of the season this has proved to be the case. It was an easy decision for me to extend my contract," said the Turkish-born Ciftci.

"The team is playing great football and we have a chance to grow even better. It is exciting to be part of this team and I have also been delighted with the response of the United fans to my style of play.

"Signing this contract extension allows me to focus on improving as a footballer and this is the best place for me to do so right now."
