Dundee Utd to seek Australia clearance for Newcastle's Good

Dundee United have revealed they will have to hold talks with the Australian national team regarding the availability of Curtis Good.

The Newcastle United defender is back at Tannadice to resume his loan spell following a hip flexor injury sustained on duty for the Socceroos in a friendly against Ecuador in March.

Good was impressive for Jackie McNamara's side after initially arriving from the Magpies in late January and in a boost for the Tayside club, is now working his way to full fitness ahead of the Scottish Cup final on May 17.

However, the Socceroos kick off their Australian training camp for the 2014 World Cup the day before meaning Good will have to be granted clearance by national team boss Ange Postecoglou to play in the final against St Johnstone at Celtic Park.

"We'll have to speak to the Australians about Curtis. The Scottish Cup Final is a massive game so we'd maybe have to ask them a favour if it comes to that," said United assistant Simon Donnelly.

"Curtis did a bit with the physio at the end of last week and he's back with the boys.

"Newcastle were happy with his fitness so we'll see how he gets on.

"He has missed a few weeks and we won't rush him."
