Dundee United are digging in their heels over a price for Andrew Robertson.
The Hull Daily Mail says contact was made between the two clubs last week for City to outline what they would be willing to pay for the precocious 20-year-old but that is known to have fallen short of Dundee United's expectations.
City expect further dialogue in the coming days with Robertson still firmly in the frame but the chances of a deal being struck while away in Portugal are slim.
Robertson is currently on Dundee United's tour of Ireland and featured for 57 minutes of a 0-0 draw with Athlone Town on Tuesday.
