Dundee United have signed defender Robbie Nelson as a free agent it has been confirmed.
The 26-year old former Heart of Midlothian and Leicester City has joined the Tangerines for the remainder of the season subject to an international clearance.
Neilson has been on the lookout for a new club since departing Leicester at the end of last season and will now ply his trade under Peter Houston which he has him excited.
"I got a phone call from Peter last week asking if I wanted to come back up to Scotland," he said.
"I have been looking to get playing again and have known Peter for a number of years after working with him at Hearts.
"It's up to the manager if he wants to play me against Hearts on Saturday. I feel fit and ready.
"I obviously know United well from my time in the SPL. The manager tells me they have a few injuries and wants me to add experience to the squad.
"I'm delighted to do that and looking forward to getting started. The majority of the boys are under 24 or 25 and there is real quality among them.
"A few of them were away with Scotland Under-21s on Monday night helping them get a fantastic result.
"So I am really looking forward to it and want to help the team get up the table."
