Dundee Utd chairman: I won't interfere in Levein plans

Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson says he won't over step the mark when dealing with manager Craig Levein.

Thompson told the Sunday Mail: "I have a lot of respect for the manager and hope it works both ways. I've spoken to people who have told me it's the most important relationship at a club.

"That's why I won't set targets. But if we lose the first four games of the new season I'll be giving you a call!"

Since taking charge Levein has added six new faces to the squad.

Sean Dillon, Jon Daly and Morgaro Gomis arrived in January and he has since recruited Willo Flood, Darren Dods and Lukasz Zaluska.

Thompson said: "The manager has gone for people he knows and we have good expectations.

"In the past we've started badly and by the end of September we've been looking up the league. But Craig wants to change that."
