Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson is to ask the SPL for guidelines to be put in place for rearranged matches. Rangers chief executive Martin Bain claimed to be "disgusted and angry" with United's decision to charge half price for next Tuesday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League game at Tannadice.

The pair have continued to trade hostile views on the matter but Thompson believes plans have to be put in place to prevent similar public rows happening in the future.

"It would have been helpful if there was somebody neutral in the matter to give us some guidance," Thompson told BBC Scotland.

"I've already asked the SPL (Scottish Premier League) could they put some guidelines in place for any future event, so we all know where we stand and there's no debate, or war of words."

The row ensued after the abandonment at half-time of the clubs' league meeting on November 1.

Rangers had hoped ticket stubs for the original match would guarantee free entry for fans and, at the club's annual general meeting at Ibrox earlier in the week, Bain hit out at United after being confronted on the matter by one shareholder.

Thompson said: "I'm not sure how he's (Bain) going to take things further, that's entirely up to him.

"As far as I'm concerned, enough has been said on the matter. We've all got bigger issues to deal with.

"I'm going to move on from it and welcome him to Tannadice on Tuesday."
