Dundee Utd boss McNamara hails 'unplayable' Ciftci

Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara heaped praise on Nadir Ciftci after his two-goal performance in the weekend's Scottish Cup win over Inverness.

The Tangerines hammered Caley 5-0 in the quarter-final on Sunday with Turkish forward Ciftci scoring twice in the opening half-hour to give the visitors a commanding lead.

Following Ciftci's brace, Gavin Gunning, Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong all hit the target as the Taysiders cruised into the semi-final of the Scottish Cup much to the delight of McNamara.

"I thought we were excellent from the start," McNamara said. "Nadir took his first goal really well and showed the desire to get on the end of the second one.

"When he's on form he is unplayable. The big thing for the first one is the strength he has got, and the second one you can see the lad looking over his shoulder looking for him. He has real pace and power and I thought he was fantastic.

"We were very comfortable in the match, to a man we were excellent."
