Gary Mackay-Steven is set to undergo an arthroscopy on his knee which will sideline him for around six weeks.
The 21-year old Dundee United playmaker has been battling a knee problem in the early weeks of the new season and will go in for a clean-up according to manager Peter Houston.
"Gary is going in on Tuesday so will be out for between four to six weeks," he said.
"Mentally it will be the best thing for him.
"He isn't getting the full range of movement in his leg so he'll go in and get the tidy up done. That will be him out for quite a wee while.
"Gary is obviously a loss because he's a good player and it's another one out of our squad.
"Two or three injuries isn't the best for our squad because we don't have the biggest one around.
"But we just need to deal with these things and deal with the positives rather than looking at the negatives.
"It's an opportunity for someone else to now come in and stake a claim."
