Dundee United fans will have the opportunity to honour the memory of Eddie Thompson at Saturday's SPL game against St Mirren. Supporters have been asked to wear and display tangerine and the Thompson family have also requested admission prices be reduced to £5 to allow as many supporters as possible to pay their respects, as well as requesting a minute's silence prior to kick-off.

Chief executive Stephen Thompson said: "We are very aware that many United supporters - and indeed fans of other teams - will wish to attend Saturday's game to pay tribute to my father.

"We want to encourage this as much as possible, but do not wish to be seen to profit from this genuine and heartfelt recognition of my father's contribution to the club and Scottish football.

"My family has therefore requested that prices are reduced to this nominal level and that as many fans as possible wear tangerine as a mark of respect.

"In recognition of the very personal nature of the relationship that my father had with many of those attending the game, we feel that a minute's silence is the most appropriate way to mark the occasion at Tannadice.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind and moving tributes paid to my father and for the wonderful response by supporters of all SPL clubs, and at other grounds, before each game at the weekend."
