Dundee manager John 'Bomber' Brown has made clear his comments regarding Gareth Bale.
The former Rangers defender said the best way for Scotland to stop the Wales star in World Cup qualifying on Friday would be to basically stop him from running by causing injury.
But Brown has moved quickly to iterate his words by telling SunSport he simply feels it would be wise to closely mark the Tottenham ace.
"What I said about Gareth Bale was picked up wrong, that isn't what I was meaning," said Brown, clearing up his comments from BBC Scotland.
"I didn't say for anyone to go out and maim him.
"What I meant was that he's a top player and if you give him space then Scotland will suffer.
"He's a player capable of crucifying you.
"But if you get close to someone, don't give them two or three yards to run at you, then you can stop them from playing.
"That doesn't mean going out there to leather someone, you can do it within the rules.
"Don't give him space, mark up on him and stop the ball getting to him.
"Gordon Strachan isn't daft, he'll have his players well aware of what can happen if you give Bale too much space.
"Stop him running at you, stop him using space and stop him playing. But I wasn't saying hurt him."
