Dundee manager John ‘Bomber’ Brown has revealed his strategic plan to stop Gareth Bale – ‘you can’t run without legs’.

The former Rangers defender was speaking on BBC Scotland radio alongside Wales legend Mickey Thomas regarding Friday’s World Cup qualifier between Scotland and Wales at Hampden when he said the best to stop Bale would be to target the Tottenham star.

“You know what you do, with the pace he has got and the close control... you can’t run without legs,” said Brown.

“And I’m sure that will be getting passed around the squad.”

Brown said earlier: “I watched the game in Cardiff and the difference was Bale (who scored twice at the death in Wales’ 2-1 win in October).

“Bale is a big player, but Gordon (Strachan) will know what he is doing. If he can nullify him, I think the Welsh team is average.

“If you can cancel out the biggest threat, you have a chance.”
