Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett has urged his side to consolidate on their fine win over Liverpool.
The doom and gloom surrounding the Magpies has been lifted for just a little while following the their 2-0 victory over the previously high-flying Reds at St James' Park last weekend.
Dummett believes that Newcastle's performance against Liverpool was 'brilliant' and has now urged his team to replicate such a showing in the coming weeks in order to get their flailing season back on track.
Dummett told NUFC TV: "It was a brilliant win against a top side. All the players, as a team, put in the graft and if we can perform like that week in, week out, I don't think we'll go far wrong.
"We've had a lot of criticism over the last two weeks - and especially the last week, after the Palace game. We've took a lot; the team, the manager, the whole club, so it's nice for us to go out there and show that we do care.
"Keeping a clean sheet for a defender is always big and then we got the two goals as well. As a team we defended really well - man for man, I think we were better all over the pitch and that showed. Even at the end, we were throwing bodies in front of the ball and blocking shots."
