Duka signs Generation adidas contract with MLS

Dilly Duka has signed a Generation adidas contract with Major League Soccer.

The former Rutgers University star finally decided to sign with MLS after weighing up his options and opting not to pursue a career in Europe.

He will now go into the 2010 MLS SuperDraft and reports suggest that his hometown team New York Red Bulls are a strong chance of picking him up.

Duka said he was relieved to have signed and is now looking forward to playing professionally in the USA.

"My family and I are really excited right now," said Duka, who just turned 20 in September. "It's an honor to now be known as a professional player and have a signed contract [with the MLS]. It's a pretty exciting time and I feel good right now.

"The past year has been a pretty great year for me," added Duka. "First in January, getting picked to the [U.S.] national team, then going to qualifiers in March and doing well, then to training with the team over the summer and playing in the World Cup in September, everything happened so fast.

"Now signing a professional contract and having to wait two more months [for the draft] to actually be on a professional team, I can't wait. I'm really excited right now. I'm going to continue training on this off time and try to have a good first year."
