Duff to leave Melbourne City for Ireland return

Injured Melbourne City winger Damien Duff will leave Australia as soon as next month to return to his native Ireland, reports The Guardian. The 36 year old former Premier League winner with Chelsea suffered a calf and ankle injury last month that effectively ended his season early.

He confirmed to Irish news outlet <>RTE that his time in Melbourne was over and he was planning his return.

"I'll be home now in the summer, end of April early May, and I'll be home for good then, so I'll be looking for a job," he said. "I've enjoyed Australia, but I think Ireland will be my next port of call."

Duff said in January he always held intentions to finish his career in the League of Ireland.
