Bolton Wanderers chief Allan Duckworth admits competing in Europe is a key component of their future plans.
Turnover fell by seven per cent from £54.6million to £51.1million, the company said in a statement.
That, they said, was due to Bolton's absence from European competition last season and only staging 20 competitive first team games at the Reebok Stadium.
They are again involved in the UEFA Cup and have reached the group stages.
However on the domestic front Bolton are in the relegation zone after only one win in 13 games and Gary Megson has replaced Sammy Lee as manager.
But Duckworth stated: "Our priority remains clear; to build Bolton into a successful Premier League club competing in Europe on a regular basis.
"This obviously means achieving success on the field but it is also clear this can only be sustained by achieving similar success across our commercial and other business areas."
