A sheikh from Dubai is being linked with Tasmania's bid for an A-League team.
The unnamed man is a hotels and hospitality tycoon but that it about all we know at this stage.
Tasmania United FC bid boss John McGirr confirmed there was a man from Dubai that may be involved but refused to divulge any further information at a news conference in Hobart.
"Our director of football Ken Morton is, as we speak, negotiating with a businessman in Dubai who is very, very keen to come on board," McGirr said.
"Just like (Roman) Abramovich at Chelsea."
It is reported that the cost involved would be $6 million over three years.
