The 33 year-old had been linked with Dubai club Al Ahli because of his property interests in the Emirates and was supposedly close to moving to the middle-east.

Al Ahli are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season which starts in September.

Khalifa Saeed, President of the four-time champions, was non-committal: "I do not want to comment on the matter. I will speak (about) it after a few days," he told Gulf News.
