Drought-breaker Cleverly buoyant after Man Utd win

Tom Cleverley scored his first goal in exactly a year as Manchester United beat Aston Villa 3-0 on Sunday.

The 24-year old midfielder had not netted since December 15, 2012 but was able to put the finishing touches on United's away win after Danny Welbeck had earlier scored a double.

After the match, Cleverley told Sky Sports that it was a good feeling to be back on the scoresheet after such a barren run.

"It plays on your mind when you're a midfielder that you have to score a few goals," Cleverley said.

"We played as a three which gave us more licence. A year of not scoring came out in my celebration.

"I think I played quite well and kept the ball and kept us ticking at a high tempo. I want to kick on from here now and so does the team.

"Hopefully this is the start of a good run."
