Drogba's Chelsea future in Abramovich's hands, not mine - Mourinho

Didier Drogba is out of contract this summer but his stay at Chelsea does not depend on Jose Mourinho.

The Ivory Coast striker, 37, has enjoyed a successful second stint at Stamford Bridge this term with the Blues already landing the Capital One Cup and closing in on the Premier League title.

Regarding Drogba's future at Chelsea, manager Mourinho insists that owner Roman Abramovich will have the final say on whether or not the 2012 Champions League hero will remain.

"I think, this is a club thing. This is a Mr Abramovich thing. Mr Abramovich wants him to do what he wants in the club," he said.

"It's something Mr Abramovich has to tell him. He has to decide.

"But, obviously, he [Drogba] belongs to the history of this club. These guys are special players.

"I think it belongs to [Drogba]. What he feels, what he thinks.

"When they reach this age, I think it's more about them to analyse themselves. It's not just about the body. It's about the body, the brain, the heart, family, projects for the future."

Club legend Drogba has been on the periphery in terms of output but he is still very much the heart and soul of the west London club.
