Didier Drogba could be handed a Chelsea start tonight against Blackpool.
Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti is set to recall the 32-year-old to the starting XI for the game at Blackpool, where he will partner Fernando Torres.
Ancelotti said with a knowing smile last night: "Will Drogba play? I've made my decision already. You will know on Monday."
If he does recall Drogba it would show that he is not yet ready to do away with the club's old guard, even though the arrival of Torres, David Luiz and Ramires has generated a sense of evolution at Stamford Bridge.
He added: "In my opinion, we can't say it's a new Chelsea. We have new players who are very important players, playing in the first team. But also I think the spine is the same - Petr Cech, John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Michael Essien, Frank Lampard, Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.
"We changed something in the last month because we wanted to put more pressure on the pitch, to get the ball up front. But the philosophy is the same."
