Actor, comedian and soccer fan Drew Carey has donated $5,000 to two charities in the wake of USA's 6-1 CONCACAF Gold Cup over Belize.
San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski scored a hat-trick for the US and did it with a misspelled shirt on his back, for which Carey offered $5k.
Unbeknownst to him, Wondolowski netted a trio of goals with 'WONDOWLOWSKI' printed on the back of his playing kit and Price Is Right host Carey was keen to obtain in exchange for money to be sent to Nike N7 and Soccer Streets USA - charities of Wondolowski's choice.
"I was as amused as anyone to see Chris What's-his-name name spelled incorrectly on the back of his jersey while he scored a hat trick for the National Team against Belize in the Gold Cup. Thought it would make a great souvenir," Carey said.
Wondolowski added, with a cheeky quip: "I'm grateful to Drew for the generous donation. It was a very special night for me and the team. I really wanted to keep the jersey, but in the end it turns out the price is right."
