Drenthe feels he can be Everton's creative force

Everton's on-loan Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe feels he can be their prime playmaker.

Drenthe, 24, is convinced he can make the sort of impact that would allow him to succeed Mikel Arteta and Steven Pienaar as a fans' favourite.

He grinned: "After three weeks out with an ankle injury it is good to know you that you can play and be important again.

"I have to do what is my quality. That's why I don't do the things I can't do.

"From the moment I came in, the gaffer told me try to do what I can. I like it how the fans support me. Every game I want to prove to them that they are right. I want to get European football with Everton. I will try my best."
