DP Nkufo leaves Seattle Sounders

Seattle Sounders have lost one of their three Designated Players with Blaise Nkufo departing the club on the eve of the 2011 MLS season.

The Swiss international and the Sounders have mutually agreed to part ways, the announcement coming just hours before the club opened the 2011 campaign with a 1-0 loss to LA Galaxy on Tuesday night.

The 35-year old joined the club halfway through last year following his involvement at the 2010 World Cup with Switzerland, signing from Dutch outfit FC Twente.

Nkufo made 13 appearances for the Sounders and scored five goals during his short stay at Qwest Field.
