Tevfik Arif is eyeing off Aston Villa.
The Independent says Tevfik Arif, originally from Kazakhstan but who now lives in the United States and is a business associate of Donald Trump, was in pole position to buy Villa.
The paper also reported that Arif was an investor in a hedge fund called Doyen Capital, which owns stakes in top footballers including Monaco's Radamel Falcao.
He has partnered Trump on a number of projects including the Trump SoHo hotel and residential tower in New York.
