Downing says West Ham on track for Europe

West Ham United midfielder Stewart Downing still believes the Hammers can make a push for European football.

West Ham earned a crucial win over Sunderland on Saturday.

He said: "Europe is still there. You look at the games we have got to play, there are a lot of points to pick up. We play a lot of the teams around us.

"You keep going right to the end, because teams switch off at the end of the season, but that's not our aim. Our aim is to get into Europe, and go one better.

"Tenth place for us is not good enough, we need to aim higher than that. We have got the players to do it.

"This is a good stepping stone for us, a good win. I know it was not pretty at times, but it builds confidence, and hopefully we can go on another run."
