Stewart Downing has held crunch talks with Middlesbrough about his future.

A target for Tottenham and Everton, Downing was yesterday understood to be meeting Steve Gibson, the Middlesbrough chairman, in an attempt to resolve his future, says The Times.

Tottenham Hotspur have previously made contact regarding the winger, who has already rejected one offer of an improved contract.
