Stewart Downing says Jonathan Hogg can become an Aston Villa regular.
The 26-year-old winger describes Hogg as "old school" in the way he is the ultimate team player, more concerned with collective glory than individual acclaim.
"Every team needs that type of player," said Downing.
"He does a great shift for the team and gets in amongst people. He can tackle and pass the ball and move. "He gives us the licence to go forward, really. I think you saw it against Manchester United. He did a lot of work that probably didn't get noticed that helped us to attack. He just gets on with the job. He's not bothered about the plaudits, he's just bothered about doing his bit and he's a little bit old school in that way.
"He's done brilliantly. He's in the team at the minute and it's going to be hard to get him out."
