Doubts for Tottenham's Malbranque after ducking shootout

Questions have been raised over midfielder Steed Malbranque's no-show for their penalty shootout defeat at PSV Eindhoven.

The Sun says the Frenchman, 28, was nowhere to be seen in the spot-kick decider - despite being the penalty taker at his previous club Fulham.

Spurs suffered heartache as they lost the shootout 6-5 in Eindhoven, destroying their dreams of a UEFA Cup quarter-final place.

And coach Gus Poyet had a dig at the men who went missing as he comforted Pascal Chimbonda and Jermaine Jenas, who missed their kicks.

Poyet said: "I told them you can only miss if you take one - the players who never miss are the ones who don't step up."

At Fulham, Malbranque took NINE Premier League penalties.
