Andrea Dossena has taken a 50 per cent cut on his Napoli wages to move to Sunderland.
The Italian fullback signed for Sunderland on transfer deadline day.
The Sunderland Echo say the 31-year-old - having seen a move to Torino break down this summer when he failed a medical with a thigh injury - was determined to secure his move to Sunderland.
So the ex-Liverpool defender is believed to have offered to take only half his wages until he is fully fit again, with the thigh injury expected to be only short term.
